When the Boston Bombings happened, there was an interfaith event organized right after to bring together the people of Boston and the nation. Imam Suhaib Webb was the representative of the Boston Muslim community and the greater American Muslim community as well, but last minute he was replaced. He was replaced by a person I never heard of. I consider myself pretty active in the Muslim community in America. I have never heard of the person’s name, Nasser Wedaddy, nor of his organization, the American Islamic Congress (AIC). Whilst other faith groups had respected clergy and popular figures of their respective communties, the Muslims had Wedaddy. It was very unfortunate. We know why know why now though. Electronic Intifiada has discovered that the AIC is a front for the anti-Islam agenda. The likes of Sheldon Adelson and Daniel Pipes have funded the AIC and promoted it. It is unfortunate that Muslims have sold themselves for a few bucks to continue the agenda of bigotry and hate.

Bill O’Reilly doesn’t give Nihad a chance to talk, but Nihad’s answers weren’t that great either. With all due respect to Nihad, I’d rather Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, Imam Suhaib Webb or Shaykh Yasir Qadhi on TV with Bill O’Reilly than brother Nihad Awad.

Near the end of a recent CelebrateMercy online broadcast, someone typed in the chatroom: “Someone here just took the shahada!” At first, as the live moderator, I didn’t notice and continued with my closing remarks on webcam. I was then distracted by rapid messages of “ALHAMDULILLAH!’ and “ALLAHU AKBAR” in the chat room. I then read the amazing news: A Canadian webcast viewer decided to become Muslim at the end of the program. Holding back my tears, I congratulated him publicly as the global audience showered him with welcoming words. What’s more amazing is his personal journey to Islam and the lessons in it for all of us. Why Mawlid?
Last night I sat down and listened to the beautiful recitation of the Quran. I then heard him recite poetry praising Allah and asking Allah to send peace, blessings and mercy upon the best of creation, Muhammad ibn Abdallah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). I then listened to a poem written by Habib Umar about the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). I then heard a short talk on what type of love we should have towards the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) by a student who studied in Syria (may Allah help the people there). We then heard again another poem about the Prophets of Allah, the mothers/wives of the Prophets and the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon them all). It then ended with a dua asking Allah to increase the love of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in our hearts and prayers for all Muslims around the world.

King Abdullah decrees 20% of Shura Council to be women – Here is the list of the 150 members
Riyadh, Safar 29, 1434, Jan 11, 2013, SPA — Two royal orders, amending the Shura Council system and forming a new chamber for four Hijra years, starting the expiration of the term of office of the current Shura Council, have been issued here today.
According to the Royal Order, the Shura Council will be consisting of its Speaker and 150 members, all to be chosen by the King according to their knowledge, experience and profession, provided that women would be represented in the Council with no less than 20% of its members.
