So I saw a screenshot shared on facebook of a conversation on twitter in Arabic. I like to verify the sources before I could share it. In this day and age anyone can photoshop something up. So I did some research and consulted Shaykh Twitter and found this beautiful gem:
يقال أن حمزة ضحية العبث الليبرالي ويقال بلضحية التشدد الإسلاميولعله ضحيتنا جميعاوالجيد إدراكنا أن ضحايانا هم فلذات اكبادنا
— علي الجفري (@alhabibali) February 10, 2012
Translation:
Habib Ali: “Some say Hamza is a sacrificial lamb from the Liberals; other says that he is actually a sacrifical lamb for Islamic extremists. Perhaps he is a sacrificial lamb on behalf of us all, and it is good if we understand that our sacrificial lambs are those dearest to us.”
In the tweet above, Habib Ali is referring to the Saudi blogger, Hamza.
Then I found the respone from Mohamed Balocci:
@alhabibali الا لعنـــــة الله عليك... قاتـــلك الله.. اسال الله ان يريني فيك في الدنيا عجائب قدرته.. و في الاخرة اراك في جهنم و بئس المصير
— Mohamed Balocci (@MBalocci) February 11, 2012
Translation:
Balocci: “May God’s curse be upon you. May God destroy you. I ask God to show me the extent of His Might upon you in this world, and that I see you in the hereafter in the Hellfire and what a woeful end.”
Can you believe this? It is absolutely ridiculous and sad that this brother said this to Habib Ali. I can’t believe he had the guts to even think of this. Technology is good and bad. This is when it is bad for our deen. We can easily type anything without thinking about it. I wonder if he was physically in front of Habib Ali would he utter the same words?
Then Habib Ali responded with this:
@MBalocciبارك الله ورحمك اسأل الله ان يريك كمال توفيقه في الدارين وان يجمعنا في الفردوس الأعلى منزوعي الغل إخواننا على سرر متقابلين
— علي الجفري (@alhabibali) February 11, 2012
Translation:
Habib Ali’s response: “God bless you and have mercy upon you. I ask God that He shows you success in this world and the next, and that He gathers us in the highest Paradise [Firdaws] free of rancor – as brothers in houses facing each other.”
SubhanAllah! Look at this man. If this was me, I’d go all out rage and start arguing. Habib Ali made dua for the brother! This man is following the sunnah to the dot. May Allah bless Habib Ali and all our great scholars who follow the Prophetic tradition and keep it alive in their daily actions. Ameen!
Lastly, Mohamed Balocci responded again:
@alhabibali اللــــــــــه يهديـــــــــــــــــــــك
— Mohamed Balocci (@MBalocci) February 11, 2012
Translation:
Balocci: May God guide you.
May Allah have mercy on Mohamed Balocci and all of us. Ameen!
This is the prophetic tradition in action when dealing with haters.

Duas do make the best reply.
Its a sensitive topic…I can see why the man over-reacted. Twitter is limited to 140 words which is constricting and then that carries over into our deen too.
