Shaykh Muhammad Al-Yaqoubi Twitter Hacked? (UPDATE: Tweet Removed)

UPDATE: It appears the tweet has been removed alhamdulillah. Perhaps that Twitter account is not the official one of Shaykh Muhammad.

I don’t know how I can explain such a tweet from Shaykh Muhammad except that someone hacked his account or someone is doing a really good job of impersonating him on Twitter.  I hope this is not his official account and I pray that he never said this.

Mohamed Soltan, American Citizen and Ohio State Grad, arrested in Egypt

I have recently learned that a friend, Mohamed Soltan, of some of my friends was attacked and arrested in Egypt for protesting against the Egyptian military coup. I have pasted their words with their permission. Mohamed Soltan has been an activist in Egypt calling for Democracy. You can see him on Twitter here and he was on ABC News doing an interview here.

From my friend Raef:

Mohamed Soltan, shot earlier by Egyptian security forces is now arrested by the bastards. They broke into the apartment and took him – as of now, no one knows where he is.

From my friend Ahmad Abuhamda:

A Must Read – Sharif Aly: My Perspective on Egypt

I have dear family and friends in Egypt who are surprised by my position on what is happening. Some random people on Twitter even cursed at me and called me horrible names for sharing news articles and voicing opinions that I believe are based on solid, trustworthy sources and eyewitness testimony. Keep in mind there are journalists from all across the world in the middle of the violence, capturing the actions as they happen and sharing them with the world.

Muslim Scholars respond to the Libyan/Egyptian Extremists attack on US Embassies

Muslim Scholars respond to the Libyan/Egyptian Extremists attack on US Embassies

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi:

Clerics and leaders who instigate Muslims to ‘defend the honor of the Prophet (saw)’ by attacking people who have nothing to do with insulting his honor, actually disrespect the memory of our Prophet (saw).

Yes, the movie was disgusting, but I’m sure the happiest person today is the person who made it, because his goal of smearing the Muslims has succeeded.

For how long will we tolerate such stupidity? (source)

Shaykh Abu Eesa Niamatullah:

I condemn it because the religion of Islam doesn’t allow such an action. Common sense and a call to revise sensibilities clearly have failed with such people. So we have to focus on the only thing that might speak out to them: their religion. These militiamen have not just insulted themselves, but they’ve insulted their Prophet, the same Prophet who stated authentically and unequivocally, “Whoever kills a person who is granted protection by the Muslims shall not smell the fragrance of Paradise even though its fragrance can be smelt from a distance of forty years of travelling.” (Source)

_______________

In all seriousness I am shocked and surprised of the recent incidents at the US embassies in Egypt and Libya. I have no idea what goes through the mind of someone who claims they are defending the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) by burning an American flag or attacking the American embassy. Where does it say this in the Qur’an or Sunnah? Huh! Tell me where!

The film that slandered the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was disgusting and should be condemned. The response though is not violence. The response is education, dawah, and increase in seeking knowledge. The response is to increase in the sending of blessings and salutations upon Muhammad the beloved of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The response is to read a biography of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Alla be upon him). The response is to do a small good deed in charity. The response is to call upon others to learn about Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). So many other responses other then the stupidity and idiocy of burning American flags, storming American embassies and murdering American diplomats.

May Allah guide us all and forgive us. May Allah educate us and remove the ignorance from our minds. Ameen!

Mufti Ali Gomaa claims that Ahmed Shafiq is closer to Allah than Mohammed Morsy

Interesting developments in Egypt in the post-revolution election politics.  There are two candidates running.  The Mubarak-era prime minister, Ahmed Shafiq and the Muslim Brotherhood’s candidate, Mohammed Morsi. Mufti Ali Gomaa suggests that Ahmed Shafiq is closer to Allah than Mohammed Morsi.

Allah knows best.
